Please find my ‘exchange rate loss claim’ attached for another round of approvals.
I would like to be open and honest, perhaps for future lessons learnt or the like, that the approvals processes on this Project are painfully complicated and overly time-consuming. I appreciate exhaustive checks to protect the bottom dollar; however this is a good example where at least 5 employees (excluding accounting) are involved in processing circa $200. My time alone (downloading statements, filling out forms, making unforeseen corrections, providing native files, etc.) has already exceeded this claim amount in monetary terms. I am yet to prepare another expense claim to accompany this claim!
While I do appreciate KBR providing a refund and such facility, there may be a more streamlined and cost effective process available for (future Project) consideration e.g. provide fixed local currency amount with no Company exchange options and/or streamlined local approval process.
This case is not isolated, I hear colleagues complaining about items like CIL, flight booking approvals, delivery/removals (mob/demob) process, etc. This may be a shortlist of items people don’t care/can’t be bothered elevating as an issue; possibly as they as individuals only encounter the process once. This may however be repeated by many employees. Perhaps worth a survey?
