Ensure the name you are entering matches your passport exactly (include all names).
b. Also try to enter the name as it appears in the machine readable section on the bottom of every biographical page.
c. Try entering your middle name before your “Last/Surname”.
d. Try entering your middle name before your “First (Given) Name”.
e. Try removing punctuation (i.e. instead of “O’Reilly” try “Oreilly”).
f. If your passport number begins with letter/s (i.e. AC01234…) try entering the passport number without the letter/s.
g. If your citizenship is Serbian, try entering it as Russian.
h. If your citizenship is Russian, try entering it as Serbian. * this was a common issue in 2014, but we hope has been corrected for 2015
i. Enter your SEVIS ID Number (DS-2019 form number) where the I-94 form asks for your passport number.
j. Mexican passports contain the year of birth as the first two digits of the passport number. For some reason these are frequently dropped. Try dropping the first two numbers of the passport number.
k. Ecuadorian passport holders sometimes need to enter the country code indicated on their biographical information page instead of their passport number. This seems to be the rule rather than an exception.
