Healthy “Gold” papayas (Carica papaya L.), with a uniform size
and ripening stage, and without spots or bruises, were harvested
at the Cacimbão Farm, located in the municipality of Paraibapa,
approximately 90 km from Fortaleza, capital of the state of Ceará,
Northeastern Brazil. The fruit were taken to the Laboratory of
Postharvest Pathology at Embrapa Tropical Agroindustry, Fortaleza,
sanitized with 2.0% (v/v) sodium hypochlorite for 3 min and left to
dry naturally.
