This has been extremely frustrating and time consuming to resolve. I have spent the better part of two days trying to resolve an issue with my Office 2013 applications. It all started when I tried to add some stencils to Visio 2013 that weren’t tested for 2013 – that was my mistake. After installing the stencils, I started experiencing issues with the out of the box stencil which would cause Visio to crash. At this point, I thought I’ll just uninstall the Stencils. Well, uninstalling the stencils did not solve the problem. Next I thought I could just uninstall Visio. Here are the list of issues I encounter while trying to uninstall Visio; then rest of the Office applications, Project, and SharePoint Designer all 2013.
.From Control Panel, Uninstall this just hang and then give me an error stating that the installation had corrupt file and that I needed Uninstall / Repair the installation – here in lies the Catch 22.
.I extracted the files from the ISO image to a folder on my drive. setup.exe /? returns the parameters that can be added to setup.exe from the command line.
.setup.exe /repair and setup.exe /uninstall both yielded the same results – corrupt file and I should try to repair or uninstall the application. What gives?
.Many searches didn’t surface anything of any value. I was not about to head down the “rip everything out of the registry” path.
.I changed up my search words to unable to uninstall office 2013 corrupt installation and there it was – 2nd listing. Uninstall Microsoft Office 2013 or Office 365 – Microsoft Support. This led me to Microsoft Fix it. I had tried this tool several times over the past two days and was not able to get any results out of it. This one was different. Microsoft Fix it is not a one size fits all application. It seems like it has specific functionality that is limited and there are multiple variations of Microsoft Fix it. At this point, I was not hopeful but once I launched this version of Microsoft Fix it, I knew right away that this was going to be the one to fix it all. I ended up having to uninstall all Office applications, which was okay because I really needed a stable environment. Word and Visio were crashing regularly. I’ve include the error message the appears when Word tried to open. “The language DLL VBE7INTL.DLL’ could not be found.
