3.2. Energy–pollution nexus
Secondly, it is then important to understand the energy–pollution nexus for Delhi. We believe that
the energy–pollution nexus can broadly be demonstrated through the mass balance of a city’s energy
generation (by power plants and fossil fuels) and its consumption by means of electricity usage and
fuelling the vehicles. Both the power plants and the transportation sectors are major players in this context
and offer an excellent opportunity to study the air pollution related to energy consumption in
terms of both the climate and health emissions.
