Three markers were used for foreground selection, Aromarker,
RM00 and RM204 (Table 1). Aromarker was used to distinguish
fragrant from non-fragrant alleles. It was developed based on an
eight bps deletion in the seventh exon of the Os2AP or badh2 gene,
which encodes a putative betain aldehyde dehydrogenase 2. This
marker is located 729 bps from the initiation codon of the Os2AP
gene on chromosome 8 as described by Vanavichit (2007). RM00
