The banana orchards were not completely free from weeds; therefore, high populations of ectoparasites were supported by the weed hosts. Abundant population of free-living nematodes in¬cluding rhabditids, dorylaimids and mononchids were recorded in the cultivars of banana rhizosphere. This group of nematodes play an important role in essential soil processes (Neher 2001), however, their exact role in the crop production system is not yet clearly known.
