BRRINNGGG!!!"
The alarm sounds. There must be a fire. Someone needs help!
Quick! The fire fighters have to move fast. They prepare to fight the fire. They put on their clothes. They load the hoses. They get in the truck. They drive to the fire. It only takes them ten minutes. Firefighters are swift!
The firefighters arrive at the fire. A house is burning. Smoke is everywhere. People stand in the street. They watch the fire. They watch it burn. They can't do anything to put it out. They just have to watch. They are helpless.
The Chief gets out of the fire truck. He runs over to the people. "Is there anyone inside?" he says.
"I'm not sure," says a man. "I don't think so."
"Well," says the Chief, "we have to be sure." He looks around at the people.
"Does anyone know who lives in that house?" the Chief says.
A little girl steps forward. "A family lives there. But they are out of town."
"How do you know? Are you sure?" the Chief asks her.
"Yes," the girl says. "I am sure. I am taking care of their dog while they are gone."
"Okay. That is good to know. Thank you," says the Chief. "Now, where is the dog?"
At that moment, the Chief hears something. It is a dog. It is a dog barking. The sound is coming from the burning house.
"Team!" says the Chief. "Listen up!"
The team of firefighters gather around the Chief.
"A dog is caught in the fire. I am going to try to save him. Connect the hoses. And get some water on that house!
