Air quality modelling for existing scenario
Air pollution control strategies in India has been limited to use
of SO2 concentration to compute stack height as 14 (Q)0.3, where,
Q is the emission rate of SO2 in kg/hr (CPCB, 1998). However, current
ambient air pollution data across the country does not show
any significant issues related to SO2 values. PM has become a major
air pollutant showing exceedance in many cities. In view of the
concern about high PM concentration, in this study control strategies
have been evaluated through modelling of emission in
Chembur region. Thus, emissions from all industries (BPCL, HPCL,
RCFL and TPCL) in the study domain were considered for modelling
SO2, NOx and PM for the year 2011. The model evaluation was
