1﴿ A weekend in Milan
I wanted to give my daughter, Lucy, a really special weekend to celebrate when she
finished all her exams. My husband takes our son to watch football matches nearly
every Saturday and my daughter complains that I don’t do enough with her. I decided
to take her to Milan for three days of shopping.
We had never been to Italy before, but we knew that we both loved shopping and
everyone says that Milan is the best place in the world for that. We were certainly not
disappointed. We stayed in a part of the city known as the Fashion Quadrilatero. This
is the area where all the most fashionable shops can be found. We were only a fiveminute
walk from Via Montenapoleone, one of the most famous streets in Italy.
Lots of the shops in the center were too expensive for us to buy anything, but windowshopping
was great fun. We saw the showrooms of Gucci, Versace, and Louis Vuitton.
Lucy tried on some Prada shoes and fell in love with them. There were tourists from all
over the world and it was very exciting.
In other parts of the city, prices were more reasonable and we bought lots of lovely
things. I bought myself a new handbag and a beautiful watch. I bought Lucy a leather
jacket and a pair of Armani sunglasses. In the evening, we ate the best pizza in the
world and one lunchtime we went to Nobu, a Japanese restaurant that is owned partly
by the actor Robert De Niro.
