In November 2014, Sony pictures were alleged to have been hacked by hackers sponsored to North Korea. In the breach, confidential data, pictures, intellectual properties (unreleased films) and information of Sony Pictures Entertainment employees and their families were released by the hackers who called themselves the Guardian of Peace. This case of invasion of privacy also brings out theft of protected intellectual property of Sony Pictures. apart from the breach of privacy (information, data, email and contacts), the macro issue includes the security risk it posed for the victim/employees and the threat by the Guardian of Peace to release the unreleased films which becomes a case of coercion as a result of privacy breach.
