In this study, a portable photodiode-based pyrosequencer and
high sensitivity pyrosequencing method was developed and applied
for genetically modified DNA sequences in cereal crops. The
method can detect minimum 0.01% GMO in mixed samples. The
sequence results can be read directly using the portable bioluminescence
pyrosequencer, which allows on-site analysis without
the need for expensive bulky equipment. Thus, it could be used
in the field for the rapid screening of GM samples.
