The MPV has traditionally been Indonesia’s most popular vehicle type and this trend
looks set to continue – growing by 8.3% in 2013. The popularity of the segment is widely
attributed to the large number of model options available and to customer preference
due to the large size of many Indonesian families.
A new segment of small, fuel efficient vehicles, resulting from the KBH2 (LCGC)
program, posted a 5.8% market share in its first year. This is a solid performance and
further growth is expected in the segment due to the high concentration of vehicle
ownership in dense urban areas and increasing taxes and fuel costs.
