Your own individual performance
The second part of your assignment is to do a self reflection on your own performance during the presentation. This section should be at least one and a half pages long and you are to address the following criteria
• Pronunciation - did you say each word clearly? Would an English speaking audience understand you? If not, what were the words you did not say well and what will you do to make sure you can say them clearly in future.
• Did you use words that were appropriate to your audience?
• Sentence structure - were your sentences structured correctly? Did they flow easily? Would the sentences be easily understood by and English speaking audience?
• Did you stand to the side of the projection scene? Did you speak loudly enough for the people at the back of the room to hear you? Did you face the audience? Did you hand over to the next speaker by introducing them? Did you read from your notes too much? Did you speak for two and a half minutes? If not what do you have to do to ensure that you can speak for five minutes in the individual presentation.
You should use these criteria for your self-reflection and state what you did well, what you need to improve on and what you will do to improve on those areas for your individual presentation.
You assignment will be a minimum of two pages, you can type or hand write this work.
An Example- This is how I expect you to write about those things that you need to improve on and how you will improve.
'During my presentation I had to speak about rural communities. In watching the video I can hear that I have trouble pronouncing the word "rural." Rather than making the R sound, I am making the L sound. To improve my pronunciation of words with R sounds I will practice and record myself until I can say words with this sound correctly.'
There will be no formal class next week as I will be away. You should use our class time to work on this assignment. If you have any questions please contact me.
