Of the 39 participants
that reported chicken consumption at home before the onset of their
illness, 20 (51.3%) bought the chicken from a supermarket, 13 (33.3%)
bought chicken from a butcher or poultry shop and 6 (15.4%) were
unsure where the chicken was purchased. Of the chicken prepared at
home, 18 study participants indicated that the chicken was prepared
from freshly bought chicken and 16 participants had meals prepared
from frozen chicken. Most study participants (76.4%) consumed
chicken once or twice in the week before illness onset
