The article presents a study to estimate the effects of 1 percent dietary supplement of trans fatty acid (TFA) on serum cholesterol levels, including serum triacylglycerol and lipoprotein (a) levels, in healthy young women of Japan. The study reports that dietary TFA has no effect on the glycosylated hemoglobin (hemoglobin A1C) level. It also suggested that 1 percent TFA has little effect on serum cholesterol in healthy young Japanese women.
