In addition to ICS I am owner of RED ELEPHANT a representation for hotels from Asia in the USA. My client Sarojin worked with us since we started in 2012. I signed a contract with their Director of Sale, Mr. Anthony Dupont. The hotel is located in Khao Lak near Phuket. I had clause in the contract that I need to discuss with Sarojin any other property I want to represent in that area prior to signing. In June 2014 I discussed a new opportunity to represent a hotel in Phuket (The Paresa) with Antony Dupont. He said he is fine as the hotel is completely different than Sarojin. Anthony was fired shortly after from Sarojin for something totally unrelated to my case. I continued to negotiate with Paresa and signed a contract in August. I also signed up for a trade show in Marrakech representing the Sarojin. That show was scheduled for November 2014. I told the General Manager of the hotel that l would pay the costs as I thought this is a very good opportunity for the Sarojin. He agreed and thanked me for the initiative.
My contract with the Sarojin expired in June 2014. However Kate the owner made very clear she would extend the contract for the next two years. I also did some work and had a communication with the hotel about business after June 2014. I stayed in the hotel in end of June and we discussed mutual work for the near future.
The way Red Elephant (RER) gets paid is via barter rooms. They give me (in the case of Sarojin) a certain amount per month and that amount will be then used against room bills from ICS. So for example they give me THB 25000 per month. ICS books business with the hotel and deducts the THB 25000 from the bill. We also had an agreement that these barters don’t expire.
