In our experiment, we wanted to learn about how long different french fries can be preserved. Everyone's heard rumors about what McDonald's puts in it's fries to make them taste so good. They say they're packed with preservatives and artificial flavors. But how much of this is real? And if it's true that they're full of preservatives, how long can they last?
First, we did a bit of research. We looked on the internet and on boxes of fries and found that indeed, many restaurants put many unnatural ingredients in their fried to make them taste better. Things like beef extract, milk extract, sugar, and many preservatives are put into most fries.
To test how long different kinds of french fries, we tested 4 different kinds of fries: McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King's, and homemade fries. To try and keep the experiment as accurate as possible, we put the fries in dry jars and let them sit for several weeks. After fives days, the McDonald's french fries began to mold as did the Wendy's french fries, which was quite unexpected. Strangely, the mold on the McDonald's french fries disappeared over night, while the Wendy's french fries continued to mold. Even stranger, the homemade fries, which contained no preservatives or additives whatsoever, did not mold.
