These
recent findings may be attributed to the ability of FSH to promote
follicular survival in addition to its capacity to stimulate cell proliferation and the synthesis of steroids hormones. Furthermore, the
varied effects of FSH may modulate the action of several growth
factors, such as kit ligand, growth differentiation factor-9 and insulin-like growth factor-1, which suggests that the associationbetween FSH and these factors may increase the likelihood of preantral follicle development in vitro.
