As can be seen from Fig. 8,the required N decreases with T1, with a minimum number of theoretical stages to reach the specification located at approximately 10. The corresponding maximum value of T1 is around 80 ◦C. Also, as N decreases and T1 increases, the required S/F increases. On the other hand, the minimum reflux needed to reach the specifications is obtained with T1 around 64 ◦C. Optimal feed location moves from stage 5 to stage 7, as the temperature of the top stage increases. Attractive operating conditions for large-scale productions can be located operating the internal reflux column with T1 in the range (66–70) ◦C, N in the range 16–30, and S/F in the range 88–120. Assuming the height equivalent to a theoretical stage of 0.3 m [14], the specifications can be attained with separation columns in the range (4.8–9.0) m.
