A 38% incidence of low or low-normal serum B12 has
previously been reported in patients who underwent
enterocystoplasty at the present institution [4]. It was
subsequently demonstrated that oral B12 supplementation
is an effective short-term therapy for returning serum B12
levels to normal in these patients [5]. The long-term outcomes
of serum B12 deficiency, as well as the durability of
oral B12 supplementation remain unclear.
