Small towns are likely to be places where ‘everybody knows everyone’. Locals know
each others’ jobs, politics, hobbies, families and friends. In particular, a small town
business person may also be known as a donor to the local youth programme, as a city
councillor, or as a member of the church congregation. By the same token, small town
business customers and local suppliers are also known as neighbours, local leaders,
members of the congregation, and so on.
