For determination of the product moisture content at different
stages during drying, product samples were taken during two
harvest seasons. The sampling procedure for the moisture
content was used to get a detailed overview of the homogeneity
across the belt and along the belts to see the progress of
the drying process. Samples for the determination of moisture
content were taken at the feeder, in the middle of the first belt
and at the end of each of the five belts. At each of these
locations, samples were taken at 0.5 m spacings across the
belt. Samples were dried to constant weight in a drying oven
at 103 2 C.
