No baseball team has been more successful than the New York Yankees. The team has won the World Series twenty-six times. Yankee baseball players such as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Joe DiMaggio are legendary figures in baseball history. However, this fame and success has come at a price. There is some resentment against the Yankees, perhaps because of their numerous victories. Many sports fans like to support the "underdogs," or those less likely to win. Some fans have complained that the Yankees spend more money to buy the best players, making it difficult for other teams to compete. Although the Yankees have loyal and passionate fans, other baseball fans are always happy to see the Yankees lose.
