with xerostomia are described above for
other xerostomic patients (Table 2). Diminished
tear output results in inflammation
and damage in the lacrimal glands. Systemic
manifestations are frequent, including
synovitis, neuropathy, vasculitis and
disorders of the skin, thyroid gland, urogenital
system and respiratory and gastrointestinal
tracts. There also is a reported 44-fold increase in the frequency of B-cell
lymphomas among SS patients.
