Three fruit cortex were tested, two of them with very similar
origin (citric), these two materials behaved similar for metal removal apparently as result of their potential common components.
However, more research is necessary to find out if the same behavior is observed in the absorption of other heavy metals. On other
hand, banana cortex showed a complete different behavior binding Cd in relatively high rate compared with citric cortexes. The results of this work open a new door for research of other kind of fruit cortexes
to identify other materials with special capabilities to bind a particular metal. Finally, it is concluded that the results included in
this work are the starting study of this kind of materials and improve their properties for heavy metal elimination in the environment
