Transformational leadership
We have carefully chosen to analyze transformational leadership and its impact on changes in the mission statement in the analyzed semi-public organization for two reasons:
First, from a former study we knew that leaders in this organization engage in transformational leadership behavior.
Second, from our pre-study interviews with the Chief HR officer, we learned that even the parent company perceives this organization as much more advanced when it comes to transformational leadership processes. In view of the above, we arrive at our first hypothesis.
H1: Transformational leadership behavior has a direct positive effect on the commitment of subordinates to mission changes. We will elaborate on this further down. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to test this relationship.
