Significantly more mild and moderate re-
actions were noted with ionic contrast media
than with nonionic agents. Our 6–8% ad-
verse reaction rate for ionic contrast media
and 0.2% for nonionic media are similar to
rates reported in large series by Palmer [1],
Katayama et al. [2], and two other groups of
researchers [3, 4]. When nausea, vomiting,
and arm pain reactions are excluded, most
reactions are allergic-like.
