The water absorption (WA%) is a key factor affecting the brick
durability and a measure of the open porosity. In our case high
WA% values implies an increase of porosity so insulating properties.
The substitution with sawdust (5 wt.%) provokes the highest
values of water absorption (18%) and weight loss (WL%: 20%),
but in this case causes the worsening of mechanical properties
(MOR) lower than the industrial limit. The results obtained using
grape and cherries seeds demonstrated that this category of residues
provokes lower values of weight loss (10% and 7%,) and water
absorption with respect to the sawdust mix but good MOR values
higher than industrial limit (>20 MPa) (Fig. 8)
