Conclusions
There has been little research earlier on senior tourist markets in order to
develop Thailand as a senior tourism destination yet. Because of this, the researcher decided to
study this area, as well as this market segment due to its potential and huge number of cohorts.
The purpose of the study is to gain an insight on current senior tourism in Thailand and to find out
about the travel motivation and behavior of senior tourists. In this study, the researcher used a
questionnaire, interview and observation as research instruments to collect primary data. For the
questionnaire, respondents were conveniently sampled and selected from three targeted provinces
including Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang-Mai who were age 55 years and over. A total of 400
copies of questionnaires had been distributed to the respondents between January and June 2007.
From a sample of 400, only 323 usable samples were collected from the targeted areas.
