The present study aims at obtaining new information on the
biology and fishery of O. vulgaris caught by traps in Asturias
which might be useful to fishery management and, in particular,
we hope to identify, by analyzing octopus landings, the period
of time of maximum proportion of mature females during the
fishing season, in order to establish whether the minimum catch
weight is sufficient to protect an adequate number of breeding
females in the population.
