Among these 35 species, 20 species of Mangifera (of 69 species of the
genus ( Bompard and Schnell, 1997 )) were examined ( Table 1 ). Of all the
Mangifera species examined, 17 species are native to Thailand (including 14
of 16 species reported by Chayamarit [1994] ). Leaves of eight Mangifera
species collected in the fi eld came from 1 to 3 trees per species and numbered
at least 30 leaves per species, while 1 – 11 herbarium leaves (12 species) were
collected, dependent on the quantity of leaves per species. An effort was
made to include extremes of size and shape, as well as sun and shade leaves,
in the study.
