With the aid of an experienced field guide, which also accompanied the interviews, were collected samples of shrubs and tree species used by the population next to the fragment. These samples had not been previously herborized during the inventory, when the common names of all trees and shrubs, were given by the local informants. These plants were identified with thhe aid of analytic keys and by the comparison with the Herbarium material, and confirmed by Prof.Dr.Sergio Tavares, curator of the HUCPE-Herbarium of University- Biology Department, where the specimens are deposited. The actualizations of the scientific names were conducted based on the Index Kewensis and on the database of the Missouri Botanical Garden.
