The responses in respect of some of the farmers’ habits during
and after insecticide spraying operations revealed that a
majority changes clothing immediately afterward (Table 5).
A majority washes their protective clothing after a spraying
operation and more than half washes their clothes at the village
stream, while others either wash their protective clothing
at the village square or near a well. On further probing, those
who indicated washing of clothes after spraying said they do
so if they considered the clothes dirty. Most of the farmers
(88.7%) indicated that they do not smoke and 86.7% neither
take alcohol during spraying nor at spraying intervals. However,
45.3% indicated that they eat and 59.3% indicated that
they drink water during spraying intervals (Table 5)
