A first group of functional specifications for such a system is associated to the system readiness and comprise the installation, configuration and maintenance of both the embedded system and central information system. An elementary characteristic of the embedded system is its autonomy and the absence of any centralized management with the exception of alarm monitoring. Ideally, it should be installed and “forgotten”, activated in the event of an alarm and transmitting the alarm type and coordinates. Furthermore, the casing of the embedded system should make installation easy and be sufficiently robust in order to operate at adverse weather conditions. Maintenance of the system should be minimal throughout its lifetime with the exception of battery replacement. With reference to the central information system, the provided human-machine interface should be quite simple, supporting easy web-enabled access.
