All portable lifting equipment supplied by third party vendors will be certified to an acceptable standard and be within date. Certificates should be supplied with the equipment, or made available for review on request.
Note: In case of lifting gear inspection certificate still valid but the color code is needed to revise to new color code as specified by inspection calendar. All lifting gear must be visually inspected before color code change. The next inspection by third party will conduct when the present inspection certificate remains 2-4 weeks.

5.12 Personal Protective Equipment
Currently there exists a procedure titled “PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT PROCEDRE”(SP SMS 3) written down in safety manual.
Requirements for following have been indicated in the procedure;
o Head protection
o Hearing protection
o Eye protection
o Clothing
o Hand protection
o Foot protection
o Respiratory protection
o Anti-fall devices / safety belts
o Work vests , Glove, Equipment for eyes
However not all employees were found using PPEs . Employees working in Spinning area were seen working without mask .
Recommendations:
Ensure use of PPE by all employees
5.13. Manual Handling:
Various types of material is handled in the plant. The job of employees handling Zinc slabs during charging furnace was observed. The posture of the employee seemed to be ergonomically incorrect as every time he has to turn, lift and then load the furnace.
This has been shown in hazard identification pictorialy.
Recommendation:
Instead of this method, consider mechanical swing type table that will allow employee to push the slab instead of lifting it.
