The release is the transfer of potential to kinetic energy contained during the P High or T High
(CPAP phase)resulting from the elastic deformation of the thorax, lung, and abdomen. As the
release phase occurs, the energy stored with in the thorax and abdomen decays as the gas flow is
driven out through the artificial airway. The resultant flow-time curve is then analyzed and
requires precise adjustment to maintain optimal-released lung volume.
