• Because kenaf requires less chemistry and energy to be converted to pulp
than wood, it is arguably more environmentally friendly.
• Also, it produces long bast fibers as well as short woody fibers.
• Because kenaf is not a wood, it is more easily pulped and bleached than
woods.
• Test results indicate that paper made from kenaf fiber can have higher
brightness, opacity, tear strength and tensile strength than paper made
from southern pine.
