Why toast cake crumbs? Well I’m glad you asked. There are several things I can think of off hand to do with toasted cake crumbs.
But first, here’s how to toast the crumbs.
Preheat your over to 250F. Crumble up your cake and lay it on a lined baking sheet. Then you put it in the oven and let it toast for about an hour or until the crumbs are dry. Let the toasted cake cool and then process it in a food processor or a blender. If there are still bigger crumbs than you want, sift it through a medium mesh sieve.
