Future research should further examine the relationship between personality pathologies and perceptions of situations.
There are several possible explanations for the lack of theoretically interpretable
associations between the MAPP traits and distinctive situation perceptions in this study.
One is that personality pathology is simply unrelated to situation perception.
However, given the relationships found between the Big Five Traits and construals, the possibility that personality pathologies are not related to distinct construals is unlikely.
We found that mean scores on all the MAPP traits were lower than the mean scores for the Big Five traits.
This could mean that we did not adequately capture personality pathology,
although given the arbitrariness of the metrics used it is difficult to say (Blanton & Jaccard, 2006).
