In this study, A. hydrophila had the highest pathogenicity of the bacteria tested. The results
were similar to the observations of Dierckens et al. (1998), in Europe, which showed the pathogen of black disease in fairy shrimps [Branchipus schaefferi Fischer, Chirocephalus diaphanus Pre´vost and Streptocephalus torvicornis (Waga)] was also A. hydrophila. Although Aeromonas spp. are known as aquatic bacteria and part of the normal flora of aquatic animals, infections caused by these bacteria have been reported in many aquatic species including fish and also amphibians, especially when animals are raised under stressful environments. Fairy
shrimp are highly sensitive crustaceans, so the possibility that they will be infected is greatly enhanced.
