The most basic element of design is the line; it can be horizontal, vertical curved, bold, implied, or diagonal. Line can be roads, fences, body motion, or an endless list of objects. They can lead the eye, evoke movement, or divide a space into separate units. Lines can also create a sense of depth within an image.
They have two lines; real line and imagine line.

Horizontal lines follow from left to right, or side to side. Horizontal lines may suggest stability, quietness, or restfulness. Many western films use strong horizontal lines to communicate the vastness of a landscape. It also represents the masculinity.
Vertical lines, on the other hand, run from top to bottom, or up and down. It suggest strong and smart. These lines are stronger and more active than horizontal lines and often take visual precedence over any other lines in the frame. For example, a cactus in a landscape would attract the viewer's attention because of its vertical elements.
Parallel line represents movement, power, and force.
Diagonal lines are straight lines that appear to move because they are drawn from corner to corner. Objects that are arranged in a diagonal composition appear to move even if the object is static. Diagonal may suggest action, force, violence, or energy. They may also may convey a character that is unstable, or make the viewer feel tense and uncomfortable
Curved lines have different meaning, depending on their shape.
Sharp curves, such as ocean weaves, are movement and joyful, and also suggest turbulence.
Soft curves, on the other hand, imply a sensual or soothing quality, and suggest harmony. It represents the symbol of feminist.
Another curve-shaped line is the S-curve, which is considered fluid and graceful. The S-curve can be the main subject of a composition or can be used as a framing element or leading line. A popular use of the S-curve is the curve of a stream through trees.
The curved which has the end-line that are bend together suggest bright, stability and sadness too.
Jagged lines are a combination of multiple lines, such as horizontal and vertical, or diagonal and curved lines. Lines that are jagged tend to convey a sense of restlessness and aggressiveness. A bolt of lightning illuminating the sky is the most basic jagged line.
