Consequently, the pore size distribution in the material is
bimodal. Pore size analysis performed by the mercury intrusion porosimetry shows that the pores coming from the
silica aggregates are around 0.04 mm, whereas the extraction
pores have an average diameter of 1–2 mm for standard
ribbed products (Fig. 3). The ‘‘S’’ and ‘‘T’’ separators however,
have larger extraction pores (Fig. 3), resulting in higher
mean pore size as well as higher overall pore volume as
shown in Table 1
