“Aren’t we already soaked?” At this comment, Mahiru blinked and inspected his clothes. They had already caused a puddle at his feet. Immediately, the brunette burst into laughter. His cheery mood seemed to take away all the darkness and blew away the storm. Kuro felt the corner of his mouth twitch. He wanted to smile too. He wanted to try and be as optimistic as his Eve. It was a strange feeling. Kuro’s cheeks felt warm for some reason, and slowly, the Servamp raised his hand to feel his burning face. The warmth surprised him and he withdrew his hand quickly as if nothing had happened. Was he getting a fever? He never got ill, so he doubted it. If not, it was probably because of the cold surroundings.
But the lazy Servamp knew.
These were probably all just excuses.
“Though, I don’t think you’re that bad. Your coat took most of the damage…” Mahiru commented, walking over to prod at the sleeve of Kuro’s coat- and waterlogged as it was- a stream of water came out as soon as it was prodded. For the past few minutes, Kuro could feel the icy water soaking through his coat onto his clothing below. It was anything less than comfortable. It felt like snakes made of ice were squirming all over his body. He shivered slightly, hoping Mahiru wouldn’t notice. But, naturally, the motherly brunette noticed,
“Kuro? Are you cold? We should hurry and get home, and yet I forgot the umbrella… Ah, what should we do?!” Mahiru started to fret to himself, pacing a little in the store’s entrance.
“It’s fine… We’ll just have to run back- Well, you will, since I’ll be a cat stowed in one of the shopping bags…”
“No! You’re running too, I’m not going to be the only one getting soaked!” Mahiru scowled, flicking Kuro in the forehead.
“I thought we already said that we’re both drenched anyway?” The Servamp replied, averting his eyes slightly as Mahiru burst into laughter again. What was with him today? Maybe he really was ill… But, the Servamps rarely got ill, so how could Kuro be sick? More importantly, they had to find a way to get through the storm. The blue-haired Servamp did have one idea. But, he was tentative about it. However, since it was the only idea that he could think of…
With a mutter of his catchphrase, “What a pain”, he started to take off his heavy coat. Mahiru watched silently, waiting for his Servamp to explain. Once it was off, Kuro tried to get as much water out of it as possible, though it didn’t really work.
“We could huddle under this, I guess?” He suggested, scratching his face and averting his eyes again awkwardly. Mahiru’s eyes lit up at the idea, whilst Kuro couldn’t help but feel nervous. Sure, the coat was pretty big and all, but to fit two people under it… They’d have to be pretty close.
