3.1. The dynamic process of biofilm formation by V. parahaemolyticus at different temperatures
The dynamic process of biofilm formation by 39 V. para-haemolyticus strains were investigated at 15 _C, 25 _C and 37 _C along with the increasing of incubation time (0e48 h). As shown in Table 2, hardly any biofilm could be observed at 2 h, but most strains formed biofilms after 12 h incubation. All strains cultured at 15 _C, biofilm biomass continuously increased over the period of 48 h incubation while biofilm production enhanced gradually and reached a peak at 12 h when cultured at 25 _C. At 37 _C, no sig-nificant increase of biofilm production was observed ( Fig. 1). In addition, when cultured to 24 h and at all temperatures (15 _C, 25 _C and 37 _C) measured, the proportion of strong biofilm pro-ducers were 51.3%, 97.4% and 41.0%, respectively ( Table 2). We conclude that biofilm formation is greater at 25 _C than 15 _C and 37 _C for these 39 strains of V. parahaemolyticus.
