The Internet:
Don't forget the Internet. Working with your school's or district's webmaster can give you access to a large audience. You may want to put announcements on the Web site as well as list students who participated in the Young Readers Medal, with their parents' permission, of course. Wanda Levy, library media specialist for Baker Elementary School in San Jose, California, does just that. She not only promotes the California Young Readers Award by displaying books in her library but also rewards students who read those books with edible treats. Students who have read the most books on the list, after receiving permission from parents, also get special recognition on the school's Web site.
