The procedures were validated by comparison to a Radiometer ABL 725,
which is designed to measure blood pH, blood gas, electrolytes (Na+,
K+ and Ca++) and metabolites (Glucose and Lactate) using the same
methodology as those used by the GEM Premier 3000. This device is
routinely used in laboratory environments and is used daily in our
laboratory. We also compared PO2 and PCO2 results to those obtained
using a DiaMed Equilibrator tonometer.
