Trichothecene
• Trichothecene is one of the most notorious mycotoxins
because trichothecenes are extremely toxic and because
they are so difficult to destroy
• The toxic mold Fusarium also produces trichothecenes.
People can end up ingesting trichothecene mycotoxins
when Fusarium grows on grains such as maize, oats and
wheat.
• There are 60 known types of trichothecene mycotoxins:
Deoxynivalenol, Diacetoxyscirpenol,Neosolaniol
• Symptoms: Dry eyes, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain,
Mental impairment, Rash, Bleeding
