This print advert by JWT Dubai is for Band-Aid to promote their flexible fabric plasters. The concept behind this is brilliantly simple and effective. The hand is from a worldwide recognisable Marvel character- The Hulk. As most people know, the incredible Hulk transforms from a normal human being to his larger green form when he gets angry… “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry“.
The idea behind the ad is that Dr. Bruce Banner applied the Band-Aid in his human form, and as the print ad shows us, it is still very much in tact and doing it’s job in his hulk form.
In terms of visual hierarchy, you see the hulks arm first, then the plaster, then the Band-Aid box- telling the story itself. The human eye looks at a page starting from the top left diagonally down to the bottom right- this supports the visual hierarchy. The viewer follows the Hulks arm down, see’s the plaster and then sees that he is wearing a Band-Aid flexible fabric plaster.
The visuals of this ad are so powerful that no copy is needed. One of the best ads I’ve seen in a long while.
