People were exposed to a number of environmental factors that
present a risk for salmonellosis including contact with pets (73.4%)
and other animals (13.8%), swimming (28.7%), gardening (17%), and
drinking from private water supplies (14.9%). The type of private
water was rainwater (13 people) and bore water (1 person). Four
people indicated that the private water they drank was treated (three
